Belated Blog Update

My laptop wouldn't let me upload any photos so these photos are mostly from last week..

10x10 Exhibition at the Stew gallery.

Dad failing at Call of Duty! Stuffed peppers for dinner! looks a bit horrible in the photo but it tasted really good.

I bought Sea Monkey's but I overfed them (bad times!), I'm hoping they'll emerge from the ashes like Sea Phoenix's?

Met up with Mr Max Avery and had a trip to Subway. Bought The Boy Will Drown's album along with the new Gallows album.

Saw Steph, she bought flowers AND pick & mix for her boyfriend which was really nice of her.

My brother got home from Devon, he bought me this little lighthouse which I'm really pleased with.

Dad got a Blackberry.

Nick and I went for a walk. At one point I heard a train coming so we both stood underneath a bridge as the train bolted overhead, it was a fun little moment.

Bank Holiday Monday- Hung out with a good friend from High School I hadn't seen for far too long, spoke about old times and turning the forum into a huge sea monkey aquarium. Met up with Vicky and Flo for a meal in Pizza Hut (I had half a spicy stuffed crust pizza) then headed to The Marquee for this...

Tuesday-Lara made cakes to give to people, she is amazing as was the cake! it had bits of Crunchie and white chocolate in it!

"its so sad to only dream when you sleep"

http://defianceohio.terrorware.com/audio.php

This is a little explanation of a song by a band called Defiance, Ohio.

"it's easy to get so caught up in the gears of life (work, school, obligations, responsibilities) that we lost any sort of creative ambition or desire for ridiculous adventures, and so the only time we have to imagine is when we sleep. i originally had a line in the song that said "its so sad to only dream when you sleep," and i really think it's true. maybe if we allowed ourselves the time to take a step back and realize how wonderful our world can be (if we stop destroying it, that is) we could dream up all kinds of things for ourselves"

the link above is to their website where you can freely download their music (because they are that nice!). I really like their "folk punk" sound, I find them uplifting and they have good lyrics.

"i wish for you, friend, to lie down in peace
and i wish for you always to know..
that as long as we'll dream under these stars in the sky
that we've seen since the day we were born ..
to move but don't move too fast

for your dreams or your grandest of plans."

"You have feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself in any direction you choose"

-Dr. Seuss

Went to Will's BBQ on friday and what an evening for it, he picked a good'un! I ate three burgers, one covered in his Mum's legendary chili which was fantastic and all of them with a jalapeƱo sauce (I need to buy some of that!) I didn't know the majority of people there and felt alot like the odd one out but I tried my best not to be a recluse. Everyone seemed nice and I had a good time, I'm sure Will and his family did too.

My brother is away on holiday in Devon at the moment so the house is alot quieter than usual. I miss him already but no doubt he's having a good time with his friends and causing trouble!

(the photo below is from their holiday blog)

my parents went to stay with some friends in London yesterday so after work I was home alone which was strange. It was peaceful but I missed them too. I also felt the need to check everywhere in the house before I went to bed in case any murderers were hiding. I don't actually know what good it would have done if I had found one because I hadn't really thought that far ahead, I did however survive the evening which was a plus.

due to the lack of "grown up" toothpaste I had to steal some of my brother's which to my suprise had stars in it! best toothpaste I've seen in a while!

today I hardly stepped out the house, made a tasty cheese toastie, had a nap, watched the end of Back to the Future III and finally finished my Utopia essay!

"Leave your inhibitions at the door.."

Yesterday was good! I started out pretty lazy like most of my days so far this week but it was enjoyable.

I ate peanut butter & jam on toast for breakfast which due to the fact Kellogg's Crunchy Honey and Nut Clusters never seem to last very long in my house has become my routine choice.

I watched an episode of Smallville followed by One Tree Hill (again this seems to have become my late morning routine) then I wrote some more of my Utopia essay...I think I'm up to 1800 words...it's going ok! definitely beats doing it the night before.

had a little siesta which was ace!

around 5 I headed out to see my friend's exhibition at the Stew gallery near the art school.

I wish I had taken my camera along to show some of their stuff...they produced a variety of work such as interesting collages mixing photographs with shapes and a "portable rockstar booth" (a marquee which projected the silhouettes of people dancing inside)

I drank a free beer (as it was a "private view"), chatted to friends, had a laugh at people throwing out some amazing dance moves in the "rockstar booth" then decided it was time to make a move to go see Gallows at the Uea.

got there pretty much dead on 7.30...wandered in and straight to the merch...I had planned to buy a Rolo Tomassi shirt and their cd "Hysterics" but they didn't have any smalls and I've made the mistake of buying too many YL shirts.

the cd however sounds really good and I enjoyed their set.
Every Time I Die got a good reaction from the crowd and put on a good show! I wasn't their biggest fan beforehand but I'm going to try to listen to The Big Dirty more from now on.

despite hardly hearing any of Grey Britain I really enjoyed Gallows' set...they played a nice mix of the newer and old material.
a couple of my favourite moments were singing along to Gold Dust shortly before falling over and when they had about five people on stage playing snare drums which sounded great!

hung out with some good people and enjoyed all the bands!

when I got home I was in an upbeat mood so decided to finally watch Grave of the Fireflies which was a nice end to the day.

(got to bed around 2.30!)

"why do we keep to ourselves
and not dare to leave our fucking shells
let our feelings and emotions blend
we could be the best of friends"

x

I have faith..

"I see you hide
do you have pride
afraid to share what's inside
you've been walked right by
a real nice guy
overlooked and shoved aside
can't hear your voice
back in the crowd
move up front and shout out loud!
take a stand!
take a stand, say what you feel
be who you want, but be for real!
voice your opinion,
don't just sit still
speak your mind at your free will
take a stand!
stand your ground
don't let the world push you around
take a stand!
stand your ground
don't let the world push you around!"

"by big I mean FUCKING MASSIVE"

I asked a couple at work today if they wanted a small bag or a big one and I was really tempted to say that....

though I told my Old man after work and it made him laugh..which made me happy, it was a nice moment!

my ears are enjoying this album today

Look up

"Maps need to be drawn, words need to be said...

We all make mistakes, this life's a lesson
We live
We learn
We think
We question

So it's saturday and you're barely awake
A late night's struggle leaves a bitter taste
But the sun is beating on your window
Let the light in
The air is cool, cooler now,
the sky seems blue, bluer now
and you're ready to face whatever it is you're fighting

darkest before dawn"

"One day at a time...this is enough

Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone: and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering."
